Between Autumn 2017 and Spring 2018, Lead Scotland worked in partnership with Contact to deliver a number of workshops on Transitions at various locations across Scotland. These workshops were aimed at parents and carers of young disabled people to help them prepare for what comes next when their young person leaves school. The workshops were part of the project, ‘Going Forward – Preparing Parents for Transition’. As part of the workshops, each participant received a ‘handbook’ full of useful information and advice as well as national and local sources of support and services.

The handbooks contain information about legislation and rights related to transitions, funding, benefits and social services as well as national and local post school learning, education, training and personal development opportunities. The guides also provide information about local and national services for carers, health and well-being support, disability specific services and sport and leisure activities.

Please note these handbooks were produced between Autumn 2017 and Spring 2018 and they will not be updated, so some of the services may have changed, please check with them directly.
