Help us shape Lead Scotland’s 2020 to 2023 Strategic Plan

Every day people contact our learning, befriending and helpline services looking for options and the right support to begin learning, volunteering, having a say and working within communities across Scotland.

Please tell us what you would like us to be doing in 2023 by responding to our strategic planning survey. Answer as many questions as you can. Contact us on 0131 228 9441 or enquiries@lead.org.uk if you would like the survey questions in a different format.

Over the last 3 years we have taken on more staff, interns and volunteers and we have supported more people at a time when funding is increasingly hard to secure but we can’t let that stop us. We have waiting lists and we want to do more!

Lead Scotland 40 years by Emma Whitelock

Here are just some of the changes we have made behind the scenes over the last 3 years. Help us decide what changes we will need to make by 2023 in order to be the best we can be:

  • We made cost savings by moving the main office to Napier and by restructuring the organisation. We passed the savings onto projects.
  • We have increased our staff team from 14 to 22 as well as taking on 5 sessional staff and 4 paid interns over the 3 years, reaching more learners.
  • We loan tablets as well as laptops as some people asked for more portable devices.
  • We took on an Engagement and Development Officer who has a focus on volunteer development and fundraising. We have doubled our number of volunteers. We also have started to raise some donations.
  • We started running befriending services in Fife to reduce social isolation and loneliness, as well as learning services.
  • We are becoming more digital behind the scenes and we are in the process of moving all learner and volunteer paperwork online. We are supporting more people learn to digital skills year on year.
  • We increased the marketing of our helpline and received calls from 27 local authority areas last year, up from 17 areas in 2016.
