Board Director – Volunteer Vacancies

Are you passionate about equality? Interested in Education, Community Learning, Volunteering or the Charity sector? Looking for a new opportunity?

We are looking for two new Directors to join our team to join our passionate and committed team of non-executive directors.  One of the vacancies is for a Treasurer.

You don’t need to have had experience of being on a board before, as we provide training and support.

  • Our vision is of a fair society where disabled people and carers have an equal opportunity to learn, participate and achieve their potential
  • Our mission is to influence change and provide personalised learning, befriending, advice and information services

Our work is really important. We are the only organisation in Scotland offering personalised, community and home based support to learn with the option of accreditation. We also run Scotland’s only specialist post school education helpline for disabled people.

If you believe in our vision and mission, please get in touch with the Chair of Lead Scotland via Emma Whitelock, Chief Executive Officer, CEO@lead.org.uk, 0131 228 9441. We are happy to have an informal chat on the phone about the roles, what is involved and answer any questions you may have. We would then ask for an expression of interest and an informal interview with our Chair and CEO.

What is the commitment?

Quarterly Board Meetings are held during the day, virtually at the moment, and may involve face to face in the future. Directors are also encouraged to participate in at least one of our quarterly sub-committees. Our Treasurer leads the Finance and Risk sub-committee. Occasional extra meetings and travel expenses are reimbursed.

We welcome expressions of interest and we are particularly keen to recruit a new Treasurer who has a background in finance . We have a dedicated Finance and Operations Manager and so the role of the Treasure is to oversee the financial work of the charity, not be involved in the operational day to day running of the finances.  Lead Scotland are committed to diversity and welcome expressions of interest from people of all backgrounds.
