Chris was nominated for the ‘Personal Achievement’ award at the Adult Literacies Awards in Fife, for all his hard work.
Chris, initially contacted Leonard Cheshire to learn computing and was referred to Lead Scotland for their support. Prior to the referral, Chris had not used a computer before and, because of his visual impairment, was unsure of his capabilities to do so. Chris also wanted to improve his literacy skills and this was integrated into his computer learning.
Chris received the loan of a Lead laptop, which has JAWS (speech software) installed, and has been really determind to learn. He is currently working through an IT Intermediate 2 course and, even although he works full time at a Garden Centre, he attends college on his day off to achieve his goal of completing the course.
